Nice i LOVE water/mud also waterproof your distributor you dont wanna be stopped in a lake for something like that.

As has been mentioned, I'd recommend fully greasing / lubricating the chassis, and replacing most fluids if you haven't already done so. I'm surprised your truck looks in such great shape for having nearly forded 5' deep water -- try not to leave it at the bottom of a lake!

I just can't seem to leave well enough alone apparently. My last yota had no bed and a home made bolt together exo cage. I just can't be happy with stock and clean apparently.

Well changed out all the fluids today, aswell as made myself a snorkel. 30 bucks at the local home supply store. 8feet of 2inch PVC, 2 45deg elbows, and 1 90degree one, and some of that PVC cement. Not to shabby. I'll have pics tommorow, she's not pretty. But it works.
Tommorow I gotta buy some flex pipe and some stock steel to make a bracket out of for the raised tailpipe. Also want to go to Yota and get a thermostat and oil pan gasket.

Snorkel installed. Came a out a little further from the fender than I would have liked, but it doesnt stick out farther than the mirror does when it's folded in, so it shouldn't give much of a clearance issue.
Not bad for 30bucks and a can of matte black rustoleum I had lying around.

I keep thinking to do that, after I've already drowned em. I just keep forgeting. I'm gonna have to write myself a note on the dash, cuz when I finished the snorkel, I literally thought about what I was doing next and the only thing that came to mind was the exhaust.

Not a bad lookin snorkel. I did the same thing.. flooded my truck and since, i've been waterproofing it. Just finished up the snorkel about 10 mins ago i did 2" pvc as well only mines all internal so i dont smack it on trees.. dont know if thats gonna be an issue for you but i guess you'll find out soon enough

I'm just thankful that I'f i need to replace a hood or a fender, their the same as the 2wd which we have tons of in the boneyards round here. So if it snags on some trees I'll go ahead and run it out under the cowl area and up from there on the pass side and replace the d/s fender.

Meanwhile today I fitted a skid plate to the front I ordered from ebay, and forgot to do the diff breathers again!

See if anyones interested. Took the shallow edge of the lake this weekend, only fried my alternator... Thank you apathetic autozone employee for not asking any questions when I brought it back.

I'm gonna pull the hubs and spindles off Tuesday to fully go through and regrease everything. Thats the one thing that blows about water, but its been awhile since I played in deep water so i couldnt resist today. It'll probably be another year before I eff with that crap again lol.. to much work

basically, dif breathers, keep your intake where water wont get sucked in. Seal your distributor (good freakn luck with that), di-electric grease stuff.. I still have the original alt and its been under water more than a few times. *knock on wood*.. not whole lot you can do about keeping that sucker dry or mud off it. Soon as your fan hits H20 the engine bay is just drenched. Water goes everywhere.

and always repack your bearings after you submerge the hubs. Otherwise plan on replacing them (bearings), and its not cheap. You end up having to do all the same work anyways only it cost you a lot more money than just time and grease.

ahh... yea.. not gonna make that. I was suppost to go to Tahuya Sunday (today) or yesterday now....

but my buddy (who's property we were playing near) didnt want to go that far, he needs a new front driveline.. Sure enough he blew the front ujoint haha.. So he called that one. And we had just as much fun there as I would of at Tahuya.

Maybe after I get my rig transformed I might go out again. I really need to take it easy, i cant get tires for another month or so and they're all ready to pop at anytime. LoL

As a mariner, when I see giant blocky rocks like those on the shore, I pretty much figure they're scattered around below the water, too. Watch you don't run into one of them(!)

Dielectric grease is great stuff. This stuff is very handy too:



Boeshield T-9: developed by Boeing for aircraft, it dries to a hard waxy film - has a high dielectric.

That stuff is as good as it gets. The only problem is every can i've had stops spraying when it's about halfway empty
