alright well i want to put some kill switches on my 91 because well i have no alarm or anything, so anybody who knows were i live come on by and take her lol. nah so basicaly what switches should i buy? were to wire it in? and basicaly make it work i know that if somebody wants my truck bad there gonna get it but i feal like i need atleast something, so yeah what do you guys think? oyah i did search and i only found a thread were everyone talked about it but there were no how too's so i made a thread

The only 2 ways i have heard of are a fuel pump kill switch, and a coil kill switch.

re: kill switch

i've done this a few different ways. on toyotas the coil cable is the easiest to install and conceal. basically pick it out of the harness and lead it back into the cab, have it go through a switch installed somewhere in the cab (be creative) and then back to the splice. never had a truck wander off with this system though obviously it's not 100% (nothing is, not even sleeping in the cab with a 12 gauge).

I think this kind of switch would be nice, 'cause you can turn it off and take the key with you. And the remaining black socket might not be recognized as a kill switch, so you could put it under the dash, drivers side, for convenience:

Question is, what wire to kill? Fuel pump would be good - just make sure you get the switch between the fuel pump and both the COR & FP - a smart thief might know about jumping FP. I wouldn't put it in the +B wire or the wire to the coil/igniter for the same reason.

One wire that I'm thinking about is the IGF wire from the igniter to the ecu - the motor will start, then when the ecu doesn't see IGF it should stop firing the injectors and the motor should die. (I haven't tested this yet myself.) I doubt any thief would be able to troubleshoot that, lol.

EDIT: And/or you could run a wire from +B or positive side of coil to the horn, and put a kill switch in that wire. Normally keep that wire disconnected, but when you leave turn the switch on and when someone tries to jump it the horn will sound, ha ha.

I would say the easiest way would be to interrupt the start signal wire from the column with a toggle switch, and mount it some where way low on the dash out of site, but fairly easy to access for you

Flip the switch off, and keep the starter from ever turning over. Flip it on, and viola, completed circuit, and the ignition will work like normal

but of coarse, that wont stop the determined thief that's willing to just push start the truck

Here is an easy one. Take the fuel pump fuse out from under the hood. It's what i did on my Honda that didn't have a alarm on. just pop the hood put in the fuse and off you go.

Could just buy an alarm too? kinda what I did. when I went shopping for one they "demonstrated" this one that paged you. it seriously shrieks like a dying animal or something... no possible way of sleeping through it.

couldn't i find the wire going to the starter and just throw a awitch in between there and hide the switch so he would have no way of getting it to start? but then they could just push start it? easy to do lol i have done it before on flat ground by myself hehe

oyah i also like what sb5walker said kinda. is there a way i could put a sencer in the door and when the door opens my horn will sound? like use that switch that sets off the buzzer and re wire it to my horn with a switch in between so i can turn it off during operation?

yeah mike i dont want regular alarm lol i hate them how thwy go off from the slightest tap and anty thief know to disconnect them, atleast with doing some sort of disabling the thief wont know were to look and will take him longer to figure it out?

Remove starter.
Replace starter with solid-cog that bolts onto, and prevents the flywheel from turning.
Problem solved.

well having had the same problem working in the ghetto here in la ive found alarms are a joke you need to get a single pole switch basic on off kind i suggest the fuel pump tap into it look at the fsm for the correct color wire to cut if u got a 91 same as mine its a blue wire .... then use heat shrink tube to help disguise the wires and tun it along the top of the frame rail i did this and remember DONT USE BUTT CONNECTORS A SOLDER its the most reliable way to do wiring . that is first line of defense use the club and chances are after they get past the club ( nothcing the steering wheel 45 seconds) they will get fustrated by not being able to start it

i say the best hiding place for a switch is in the open if you make it look like it goes to lights or something. when they get in the truck the first place they are going to look is under the dash and if they jacked cars before they are going to know what is soppoused to be there and what isnt so if they see a switch under the dash they will get smart and think hey trucks not starting im gonna try that switch and see what happens. just my two cents on it
