vibration issues...91 4runner

i just started noticing that i have a new vibration.. not sure if its only in the front end...

but i have noticed that its worse with the accelerator pushed in, and its worse when down shifting (manual)

i dont think its my tires... the truck is pretty well aligned, and tires balanced.

i have newly installed a arb bumper, and wheel spacers..

any ideas?>?? help would be appreciated

unless im going crazy, i think the vibration is getting worse each day...

Check out the thread I started "Vibration Under Power" - and see how those symptoms and solutions fit with your problem.

To make a long story short - check your driveshaft u-joints

I had this problem and it turned out to be my U-joints .If you do change them, do them all, not just the one that is bad. If you want to test them, It is best to get the rear wheels off the ground, go under the rig and see if you have play in your drivshaft. Also push up and down on the shaft by the u-joints.

i'd have to say its wheels spacers. if by wheel spacers you are referring to spacers put between the wheel and hub to increase backspacing. I'd almost guarantee that is the cause.

I still think it is u-joints. As I said, I had the same problem.

I agree, it's probably the U-Joints, mine did the same thing a while back. The whole cab would sit there and vibrate when I gave it gas. It would make sense that it's getting worse too. I changed mine out and she rode like....well a 1990 4Runner again.

Yea my mom had this problem about a week ago the drive shaft was to short. She droped it backing out of the drive way. the whole cab shook when you got on the gas. have you taken the drive shaft out at all? if so you may need to go get it balanced and possible extended. Thats my thought on it.

probably u-joint first, spacers second. the rear ujoint can make the whole truck vibrate. happened to me, i thought it was something front end, but felt it all throughout the truck...twas the ujoint.

Since the motto's go 'KISS' (keep it simple stupid) or 'Diagnosis before Dollars' I would try the spacers first since you can just take those off. If that doesn't help then everyone else is probably right guessing U-joints

Checking the u-joints is even simpler than the wheel spacers - just slide under the truck and twist the driveshaft by hand. Takes all of two minutes, which is why I was wondering if he'd done it yet.

(Although I wonder WTF he has wheel spacers...)

it isn't always possible to see if the u-joints are bad by turning the driveshaft. there are at times that if the wheels are on the ground, the shaft will not move as this is what happend to me. Once the wheels were off the groung, the shaft had alot of play. I also had alot of play pushing up on the shaft in the front. So what I'm trying to say, is that you might not get play if the wheels are on the ground.

Glad you got it fixed but as others have said I would replace the front as well might be easier to do it now than in the middle of winter.
