timing belt tensioner

Does anyone have a real picture of the timing belt tensioner for a '94 3.0.

During my head gaskets change I realized I have what looks like the earlier version of the tensioner, the one that takes a spring. The was no spring anywhere so I guess someone took it out -or- didn't want to buy a new hyd. tensioner -or- who knows what happened.

I thought maybe if I got a real picture of what needs to be there I could figure out what they did.

I looked in the manual but can't figure it out by the drawing.

Hmmm. I thought the 94's used the hyd tensioner. I don't know if this will help, but here's a pic of my 95's tensioner (hyd). I know it aint from the best angle, but it's all I've got.

Thanks for the picture.

Is that a hex head bolt just below the cam pulley? Is this where it bolts to the block?

Is that a through bolt on the bearing end of the tensioner or is that just a bolt to hold the bearing to the tensioner fixture?

Is that a one piece tensioner or is it 2 pieces?

Any help will be appreciated!!!!

Notes:
There are two different versions of the idler pulley. The '88 to '93 version has a spring integrated into the idler that acts as a tensioner. Upon reassemble this tensioner needs to be adjusted like a fan belt. On '94 to '95 engines the tensioner is a separate part and is not adjustable.

-The tensioner is bolted to the passenger side head via the hex bolt. I did not remove it from the head during my HG repair.

-The bolt in the center of the wheel just holds the bearing in place.

- The actual hyrdraulic tensioner is pictured below. I think this may be causing your confusion.

I definitly have the spring style, not sure why on my '94

Snap-on is the bolt that goes through the pulley a shoulder bolt? Also what does the spring hook to on the other end?

Here are the heads I have.

I figured out that someone must have taken the hydraulic tensioner off and put on a spring type tensioner. They must have left the spring off 'cause when I pulled the timing belt cover off there was no spring anywhere.

The way it looks I have two different heads on this engine also. Which head should I use for the right side of my engine if I going to get a hydraulic tensioner. The one with two holes or the one with the single hole? Also does the part in the picture that looks like it has been milled down make a difference?
