Swapping wing windows to a truck without them
My 86 doesn't have wing windows, and I have a couple spare sets of doors that do. Is it possible to pull the windows/guts and all the weather stripping out and be able to retro-fit the wing windows into a non wing window truck?
Seems like its doable other then where the metal bar meets the door/window frame inbetween the wing window and regular window.
anybody ever done this?

I tried it once and found the doors have different holes. You basically need to swap the entire door. But my experience was with an 88, so your mileage may vary. It's probably possible if you're willing to do some hacking. But it was too much trouble to bother with in my case.

I have an 86 with 88 doors in question. I have a set of 2 sets of spare 85 doors, so if I try this I might use them if they have the wing windows.
Were the holes you are talking about on the inside of the door under the panel? I feel OK attempting that, I just don't want to ruin my doors, or swap doors considering my 86 is pretty straight and the paint is in good condition
not that you only see them 20% of the time anyway LOL

Ive done this twice..some non wing window doors have the right holes some dont so compare before starting. I have never seen a door that originally had power windows with the right holes for wing windows as with most yota stuff, im sure there are exceptions to that "rule". The two sets of doors that i sucessfully swapped wing windows into were 84 and 86 4runner doors with "solid" manual windows. If you have the right holes under the door panels this isnt a hard swap. Just be prepaired to scrape some skin off your hands while working in those small spaces in the doors. Took me about an hour per door to swap. Hope my rambling has helped?!?
