I would like to buy a suspension lift kit for my 95 4runner. I would like to get to get 4 inches of lift and 33x12.5 tires. What are your opinions on the lift kits from companies such as pro comp, trailmaster, superlift, etc? I'm trying to figure out the best one to buy. It would mostly be used for mudding.

they are all basically the same drop bracket lifts. Any 4" lift will allow you to run 33" tires.

i run 32s stock on my 94 4runner.. just a get 1 or 2 inch body lift that way your ifs stays nice strong and stock!

I don't know about the current kits available but my 12 year old Superlift kit was top of the line and does great. I know they don't make them like they used to though. My advice is get all the available options for bracing and support.

Actually I still had some rubbing with my 33x12.50s after the 4" suspension lift. It wasn't until I added a 1" body lift that I got rid of all rubbing completely. But my wide rims and back spacing had a lot to do with that.

alright so i'm thinking trailmaster or superlift. what kind of gas mileage would i expect to lose running 33's without regearing.

if you mean tire wise, i have 31's. And if you mean mpg wise around 13-14.

Well you may see 1-2 mpg drop, but I really didn't notice any drop off in mpg. My truck got bad mileage from the factory with 31s and 4.88 gears and it pretty much stayed the same with 33s/ 4.88 gears and 33s/ 5.71 gears and 33s/5.29 gears.

I wouldnt run either of those kits on my truck.....or drive with 33s without regearing...your truck will hate you

what would you suggest for a lift? and i mostly likely will regear i was just wondering if i did not.

Personally I would crank the t-bars and put some Downey coils in the back....

A helluva lot cheaper too......4 inches is excessive for 33s. You only need about 2 inches to clear them. Keep it as low as possible

Here it is! The 1990-02 4 Runner 3” lift rear kit designed to be used in the rear when also using at least 3” of lift on the front-end. This new rear kit provides an additional 1 lift when used with Downey 1 rear coil springs (not included), providing 3” of total rear suspension lift. The kit includes new 1 thick polyurethane spring seats, 1 long billet aluminum upper snubber lowering blocks and bolts, 3” longer sway bar links, and a heavy duty 3” drop panhard rod remounting bracket.

I just put a trailmaster lift on mine, 4" with 33X12.50's.

So far, i like it. Kept it stock gearing, don't really notice too much of a difference with the 33's over 31's.

Whichever kit you get, make sure the front's got the kicker bars back to the frame. Here's mine with a 4" kit and kickers (it don't look that high because of the tires and the rear end sag, which has been fixed):

You can see them behind the front wheels going up to the frame. They strengthen the front quite a bit.

My thoughts about strengthing the front, Definitly weld up the brackets, everybody tells me this and it only seems logical IMO, unless you plan on taking the lift off.

Another thing i am going to try is to use another front crossmember in place of the rear crossmember. Ill see if this even works, just haven't had time yet.

the kit I got came with a rear x-member brace so it wasn't an issue.
400 bucks on craigslist and also had spindles, hubs, etc. (the guy was doing an SAS to his 91 truck)
I didn't see that trailmaster offers the kickers but superlift does.

Dang, thats a smokin deal.

I got my whole front and rear kit for like $380, basically everything, but i need the panhard drop bracket and a longer rear brake line

hmm... mt.goat... now you've got me questioning my seller claiming the kit was a superlift kit. My kickers bolt to the transfer case x-member , have a urethane bushing at the lower a-arm crossmember and are about 1 7/8" tubing... maybe it's not a superlift kit I have?
