been playing with the tonneau cover,now have gas struts fitted to assist lifting.


new engine fitted too.

First time I've seen this thread - Wow. As others have said, what a nice truck to start hacking up, but it looks like you've done a great job of fabbing up as you go. Looks very nice and unique. Two thumbs up!

So yeah, what's with the new engine?

yep it is a stock 3.9 ltr rover v8 but its out of an ambulance so everything has been uprated.and made stronger these engines have to be very reliable.the old lump overheated due to the rad being blocked with mud.so it started to develop a bottom end knock,so rather than strip down and repair i opted to fit this engine,so when i say new,what i really meant was a second hand engine but new to this vehicle. its been a labour of love over the past year or so this is it when i bought it.

Dude that conversion looks sweet. Pretty much what I plan to do once this yoter dies in a specular ball of flame.

Very nice looking hilux. Personally I think it looked better without the yellow triangle under the red stripe but that's just me. How does the family like it?

thanks for the thumbs up guys i thought i might of overdone it with the stickers a bit.but it sounds like you like it.no plans for the front suspension at the mo as its only 2wd.my son thinks its awsome.he loves the exhaust note from the v8.

Wait! It's only 2wd? Why'd you go to so much build and fab for a 2x4?

Oh, two wheel peal, sweetness, with that, i'm thinking your surf is in need of some long travel pre-runner suspension, that would be sweet.

Props on one cool truck man!I wanna do this to a two door version but keep the top and make it removeable like one a 1st gen runner!

thanks guys.now that its done i wanna sell it an use the cash to fund my next project.i have a 1st gen surf and wanna fit a lexus v8 into it.here she is.
