Yup, no more overheating! I've held 5PSI boost going up a highway grade for minutes on end and the temp gauge hasn't even budged. About that torque converter, that's entirely possible. Either way the stock automatic transmissions/transfer cases were a dog and a huge financial liability compared to the stick shift/gear driven cases that came in these trucks. All in all, I'm happy with where the truck is right now!

The 4runner getting into the spirit for the 4th of July!

Then on July 5th I took it out wheeling up in the Big Bear lake Area. After the 150 mile drive, I of course broke on the first obstacle on Cleghorn Ridge Trail.

The extent of the damage, a snapped CV axle and snapped outer tie rod end.

But this wasn't my first rodeo and I always bring extra CV axles and steering parts, so after an hour and a half of work I was back on the trail. From here we drove up the mountain and ran the Dishpan Springs trail then called it a day.

Oh god no! That's my spare and I'm just running it until I find a tire to replace the one I chewed up. This is a trail-only truck so I only run mud tires on it!

After once again finding the limit of what the IFS could do, I ended up selling the 4runner to try out some new projects. I've since build a 1998 GMC Sonoma for drag racing with a small block chevy engine and nitrous, built a few tows like my drift trike and just picked up a 1971 Winnebago Brave to use as a tow rig. I'm hoping to get another off-road toy soon! Although it'll probably be a samurai or wrangler so that I can try building something a little different.
