Stranded! - 22re Front Exhaust / Downpipe Removal + Reinstatement?

Hey guys, I am I the middle of a full exhaust replacement. I ceramic coated all the new exhaust parts (another post to come!) but can't seem to remove the existing front exhaust pipe!

The exhaust manifold and everything from the cat back has been removed. I can't get out the front pipe despite my many maneuvering techniques. (Including trying to pull it through the hood) Should I be removing the sway bar behind my front axle (2wd)? Or some other steering/ suspension pieces to increase access. No posts I seen mentioned this. Nothing in the manual or fsm.

I only have a hacksaw so I can try to cut the pipe out...but then I don't know how I will get the new down pipe in without damaging the coating.

Your help is much appreciated. I am stuck on my aunts drive way until I can finish the job. Thanks.

You have to raise the vehicle high enough to be able to remove it out the bottom.

When you install the same thing.

I never had any problems

Thanks for the feedback. The frame is a good 1.5' off the ground. I can comfortably work under the vehicle. I don't know if jacking it up higher will make any difference.

Any other suggestions?

To tell the truth I was reading to fast I did not notice the 2wd part .

Never been under one.

I am betting you have way less clearance then the 4x4`s

Even the whole front of the exhaust is different I would venture.

With the pipe unbolted at the manifold and at the cat it is simple on the 4x4 to slide it out toward the rear of the truck

To close the loop here:

To remove the front exhaust pipe (y-pipe) from my 2wd pickup easily, I did have to remove the drivers side torsion bar, and the front sway bar on the chassis.

Factor that time into your next exhaust replacement.
