Is there another way to set up the starter relay other then cutting the part from the wiring harness that goes to the starter?

On mine, I did cut that wire, but only to insert a male and female spade lug connector in the gap, then that can be re-connected and you have the original system in place. Then I added the starter relay with mating spade lug connectors that I can plug into that original wire to insert the new starter relay. The reason I cut that wire was so I could retain the factory connector on the end. If I had a spare connector, I could have not cut anything and simply added one of those to the end of the wire from the new starter relay.

Or as noted on the page, you can modify where the factory starter relay gets it's power from (battery instead of the ignition switch).
