Replacing Shocks

Replacing Shocks
After bouncing down the road for the last couple weeks, time to put newshocks on. What size sockets do I need 23mm? 24mm? I only have up to 22mm, close but no cigar. Thanks!

for the front shocks the bottom bolts are somewhere around 7/8" (that socket seems to fit well, and yes i realize its actually metric). the tops are.... 14mm? if i remember correctly. I'm working on getting the bottoms loose still, and keeping the shock from spinning while removing the top nut. I've already hit em with pb blaster atleast 20 times in the last 6 months lol, and still no luck so I think i'll be getting the torch out for the next attempt

I'm guessing you're referring the front shocks? The rear ones on mine are 17mm. The front is a 22mm on one side and a 24mm on the other at the base and the top is 14mm. Yours is probably a 24mm. Crescent wrenches (or channel locks) on either side have worked for me...if you can get one inside the control arm and lock it down against the arm while you turn the other.

sounds almost as difficult as my torsion bars. ive tried everything. oh well. some things you just have to live with i guess. at least until u get ahold of something that shoots fire or something. then u show it whos boss. hehehe

One thing to do before attempting the top nuts is to remove all of the crud out of the threads. Use a wire brush, you won't believe how much this actually helps.
