Replacing Passenger Side Vent Register
Hey,
I have a '93 4Runner V6, Auto.
I've been searching around for a couple of hours, but haven't really found much on this. I've looked at the section on instrument panel in the online manual for the '93 truck, which is probably quite similar to my '93 4Runner.
The register on the air vent closest to the passenger window (the part with the lever to adjust the air flow so that you can point it at the passenger side window or at your face) is broken, so I want to replace it. I am making a trip to the junkyard after work to pick up a windshield, and I thought I'd poke my head into the '91 and '93 4Runners they have there to see if either of the interior colors is the same as mine so that I can grab the register.
To me, it looks like I might be able to get to the passenger side register by removing the glove box and one bolt which is right below the register, but hidden behind the glove box trim. Then, I should be able to pull out the passenger end of the dash enough to get at the bolts holding the register in place. Does that sound correct? Am I missing anything? I want to take as little off as possible to get this register off at the junkyard, but I don't want to break things in the process and end up having to pay for them.
Thanks.
