redlining?

so, i don't have a tach and I don't really know where my redline is for each gear...

the highest ive gone in 1st is 20, highest in 2nd is 35, highest in 3rd is 50, 4th is 70, and 5th is 100

i just wanna know what speed is considered potentially dangerous / redlining to know when i need to back off or if i got some more room for error...

(i judge revs by the vibration of the gas pedal btw )

Um thats about right for my truck as well.

I have a tack at about 20mph in first i think im close to 4K
40 mph in 2nd is close to 4k
Actually i think thats about the same for all gears, as far as being near 4k

Couldn't tell you on the 70mph my truck has never seen 4th gear at that speed and same for 5th, never done 100 in mine...

You could always add a tach or do an sr5 guage swap.

MAN!! YOU MUST HAVE A CRAZY FAST TRUCK! i couldnt reach 95 in 5th even when i still had 235/75 tires on it!...i could reach 96 in 4th though ....
When the clutch was going out on my '93, I would rev it up to like 5K easily in all the gears...I got to 45 in second...thats all I remember...

oh...you have a 2wd..so ya you can probably reach 100...also I was being sarcastic about you having a really fast truck

lol...

its fast till i reach 25 and the lexus blows past me...

i should just put a massive v16 engine in the back and link it directly to my rear axle

then my shell will be of some use

Since when were our trucks built for speed?

If they were built for speed I dont think Toyota would have put a 112hp engine in a 3800lb truck (4wd)

Don't have to have boatloads of money.

Just spend what ya got!

dude if my rig was still stock i would either have a bunch of money in the bank or i would have spent it on stupid stuff and still be broke!

LOL good one. My friend driving my truck tried to shift into 6th at 65mph.

Note: the shifter won't actually go into reverse at that speed- there are no synchros for reverse and the difference in speed between the collar and the splines so they will not engage- just grind.
