rear axle seal?

I did this just last weekend. It's easy... Pull tire. Undo rear brake line from the wheel cylinder (and plug it) Pull off drum and undo parking brake cable, and undo the two bolts that hold it to the backing plate and pull through. Remove 4 nuts on the rear of hub (close to the axle) pull out axle shaft as a whole. Pop old seal out with a screwdriver and carefully tap in the new one ( make sure it goes in straight and all the way) I used a short 2x4 to tap evenly. then reverse the steps to put it all together...

I'd jump on this repair soon.
It's my understanding that the bearings don't care much for being contaminated with gear oil... not to mention the brake hardware.
Be a shame to "have" to replace those bearings if funds are tight.

im surprised your bearings arent eaten up, i had to do mine about two weeks ago, a seal went bad and destroyed the bearing in no time. the tear down is very and reinstall is cake, but you will need to find someone to press the bearings for you. i would definately replace the inner, outer seals, bearings. most likely your rear brakes will need to be replaced also. it ended up costing me about $200 for all seals, brakes shoes, bearings, and new drums.
