Ok so my engine blew out

So my 3.0 finaly died on me so now im stuck because i need a vehicle to go to school. So my best and easiest choice as it right now is to buy a 3.0 and stick it in there, but those anyone have a link of a topic were it shows you step by step how to remove the engine? Thank You

Chiltons tell you along with FSM's. Good to have anyway if you do this type work yourself. Take your time and take pics so You can have personal reference when a book lacks it. Ide say look for a 3.4 as its truely just about as easy to do as replacing the 3.0

not sure. Personaly I dont trust Ebay much anymore aspecialy with somthing so expensive. What exactly happend to your motor?

I know the 3.4 swap is a bit more but its worth it since you can also find the 3.4 for about that price. The hard part is exaust and wiring but both are also pretty easy if you can or have friends to help.

Ok well a month before that my heads gave up on me so what i did is paid a mechanic and bought me some new heads gave it to him so he could install them. Then after he gave me back my truck the truck started doing wierd things like it would take foreve to start when it was cold, and after it started it threw alot of smoke then it went back to normal. then after that my rpm's went up and down randomly. So i was off one day and i decided to go to the beach so i tookd it fine and when i was coming back it started smoking bad but it made it all the way home. When i got here it just threw so much oil out and my mechaninc said that the piston rings are the ones that gave up.

could find a cheap car to get you around for now then save for a better motor. I dont want to keep pushing the fact of swap but I think its the alaround way to go if you want to keep your truck but also make it reliable

OH yeah. hell even if you through in a 350 or somthing there is always a way to keep A/C Ide say look at some options. and search the swap and others here cause there is a ton of info on it in the swap section.

Good luck with your decision and hope it all works out for you

Definately find a 3.4 instead of the 3.0. Better mileage will pay the difference in the end, the engines are about the same money... there's no reason to put a 3.0 back in unless it's free.

Well, try to find a donor truck with the complete engine. That way you have the wiring. I think you can buy a kit that will plug the dash harness to the engine harness. Or you could splice all the wires yourself.

Go to the search bar. Type in 3.4 swap, there are a few writups and links that are very helpful.

Basicaly for wiring you have the harness for the engine that conects to the ECU and youll have to splice the plugs that go from the dash to the engine harness along with giving the power to the missing plug to the ECU. Its easier than most people think and if you have atleast some wiring skills you can do it. If not check out Offroad solutions for the kit and also wiring hanesses alowing a basicaly plug and play swap :

I have some picks on my thread of what the wiring looks like and how I sliped my plugs to make it all work

A bit pricey and I know you can kinda build around therekit to save money but they make some pretty decent parts and they are good people.

Also search this forum some on the topic. You can find the in's and outs of the swap on this site and all over the web
