No heater fan

I haven't done any more checking other than the fuses but my heater blower is not working in any position on the switch I think it may be the relay. Has anyone had this problem if so what did you find. Just for the history it worked last night drove somewhere shut the truck off got back in and started the truck and it has not worked since.

First thing I would do and I'm no expert, is pull blower motor and test it first. If it's OK, could be resistor situated right beside blower motor, relay, switch or wiring.

Molly is having the same problem with hers. We went over to a friend's (who is a Toyota tech) and he went right to the relay, pulled it and it was all corroded. Apparently, it's pretty common for them to get wet.

Note that you will have to pull the ENTIRE dash if it is the blower motor, so check EVERYTHING else first!

the resistor will give you high speed as default, current flows directly through it. you can pull it and check, just be warned, you had better be very flexible!

I think I have a loose connection it started working again after going down a rough road. I looked at all the connections this morning and all seemed fine maybe a solder in the motor or relay. Will wait for next weekend to tear into.

Blower motor bearing is bad about seizing up and just stopping. Check the easy stuff first then the motor. On a 1st gen 4Runner they are easy to get too...3 bolts and its out.

Don't know if it will help, but when I got my 94 truck the blower didn't work so I tore the dash out and pulled the blower, opened it up, and it was full of leaves and a bunch of crap from a mouse nesting. After I cleaned it out turned out the motor was fine and it just blew the fuse that is behind the glovebox. 9 months later, everytime I turn on the heater, it still blows out leaves.

Hey leebee, you are right on about the resister giving you high speed when in default. I have had the dash all apart this past summer as dash light were going out one at a time,so I just figured I'd replace all of them at the same time.So at least I know how to get it all apart.Of course the resister went at -25,I'm glad I still had high.

87 I just sold wouldn't work until I tried the two higher speeds. Two lower speeds wouldn't work. Pulled the motor, cleaned out the leaves and pinestraw and then replaced the heater fan resistor. Cost $11 at the dealer. Worked like a charm when I sold it.
