Try the junkyard anyways for the acc pump, you never know. I had the same problem, was going through fuel filters on a regular basis, then the fuel pump died, then my carburetor started running like crap, the culprit was a rusty gas tank. I say change the fuel filter, its quick, cheap, and easy anyways, and don't be afraid to go crazy with the carb cleaner either

Hmm. Hopefully you can find one. And if you were thinking of a carb rebuild, I'll warn you it can be pretty time consuming and complicated with all the linkage on the back lol, but well worth it, my truck ran amazingly after I did mine

How did you test your anti-diesel solenoid? If there's no voltage to that, or if it's defective, the truck won't idle. With the ignition switch "on" you should have 12V. at the solenoid. With the truck turned off, [so you can hear], put 12V. to the anti-diesel solenoid. It should click.

OK. I just looked at the Factory Service Manual, and Toyota calls it a "Fuel Cut Solenoid." It is designed to prevent the truck from "dieseling", also called "running on" after turning the ignition key to "off." Here's how it works: that solenoid has a spring-loaded plunger at the end that shuts off the fuel supply to the carburetor idle passage. When you turn the ignition key to "run," 12 V. is applied to that solenoid, and the plunger is retracted, allowing fuel to flow to the idle circuit. When you turn the key to "off," the spring pushes the plunger into the idle passage, cutting off the fuel supply to the idle circuit, and preventing the truck from dieseling.
If you don't have 12V present at the solenoid with the key "on," the spring on the plunger will keep the fuel shut off to the idle circuit, and the truck won't idle. If you have 12V present at the solenoid with the key "on," but the solenoid is defective, then the plunger will stay "in" and keep fuel from getting to the idle circuit, and the truck won't idle. You test this by listening for the solenoid to "click" when you apply 12V to it. In this picture of a 1989 Toyota 22R carburetor. the Fuel Cut Solenoid is the cylinder with the black and white wires coming out of it. Some earlier models may have only one wire coming out of it.

heyy...that helps ALOT (with the pic and explanation..lol) i did unplug it..to see what would happen..but i didnt test it..and i didnt get around to testing it today..lol
i will test that in the morning and report back..in the meantime if i spray carb cleaner (while the motor is running) around the back of the carb..it idles quite a bit smoother..but wont stay idling..it just seems kinda weird that CARB CLEANER would make the truck idle better??? specifically if i spray around the back of this little bugger..that i THINK is the Idle Up Diaphragm.. the little brass lookin thing with the vacuum line goin to it and that's where it is located..(center of pic...again..the little brass thingy..lmao)still can't find an accelerator pump...im gonna try the Carb rebuilder places..see if they can get me one..

Alright, you're kind of on the right track, but you're looking at the wrong items.
The carb cleaner will make it run better because it's taking the place of the air getting sucked in the vacuum leak. Check this page out, it will answer all your questions: http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/ The better NAPA rebuild kits that take the carb tag # into account should come with a new AP, but I doubt that's really your problem. The boot is just a dust boot, and doesn't affect air or fuel. I could tear one of these carbs down in my sleep, so post back with any further questions you have.

i think..by the time im done..the carb is gettin rebuilt..
not only do i have this problem..but if i FLOOR it..(like...suddenly from idle just FLOOR it...not gradually but IMMEDIATE) then the truck stumbles and will act funny..i cant really explain it..the DS choke will flutter back and forth..and the truck almost dies...i think it's flooding it...as in when i floor it then the truck is getting too much fuel...and my mechanic thinks that it's not getting enough fuel..LOL.. im going to mess with the mixture screw a little tomorrow too...as the cap thats supposed to be over it......isn't there anymore..so it's likely backed out a little bit and is causing the truck to run way rich... one way i know it's runnin rich..is if i floor it..and it starts to bog down..i can let off and kinda 'pump' the pedal once and a little black smoke will come out of the exhaust..which is unburnt fuel.. so things to do tomorrow...check the fuel cut solenoid, and check the mixture..lol

Is it a two or a one wire setup to the solenoid? if it's a one wire, it will need to be grounded to work.
just take a couple of jumpers right off the bat and touch them to the right connectors on the solenoid, It should pull back when you hit it with the power. You did say you have power at the wires right?? |

well now...i went searchin around under the hood..and i dont have power at the big green plug for the solenoid....i didnt bother to check the other wires coming out of the plug to see if they get power..LOL..guess i need to do a little more testing..
the solenoid is a 2 wire set up..and idk how to get to the connectors on the solenoid itself..the wires go into some kind of rubber piece on the solenoid lol..more investigating needs to be done i know..and im goin to check on everything right now

Honestly, at this point I'd start checking fuses. You probably popped the power to the carb 'computer' when you were messing with the stereo.

haha, idk if this would help any but how did you wire up your radio? idk if this is the right way but my friends when the put in systems usually wire theirs to their ignition then to their battery. Also when you wired up the radio you possibly could have created a short. try to take the stereo out. stupid idea but everything is worth a try right?
