The clicking that starts after it warms up could be an exhaust manifold leak.

It could be when it's cold materials contract making the crack/leak very small.but when it warms I'm the crack could expand and get worse. Just a thought.

That would make a ton of sense

And would the white smoke be part of that?

I didn't see any mention of white smoke in previous posts. Is it out the exhaust? Then it would be antifreeze. Check your oil (change it) and look for water in it. Also look at the oil fill cap see if there is water vapor (white residue) on the underside of it. White smoke is one of the indicators of a blowen head gasket. If you have or can rent/borrow a compression tester that would tell you and us a lot. Most parts stores rent them fairly cheap. You could probably buy one for $20 or so from harbor freight. If its a head gasket you probably got a lemon and should see if you planned future engine swap is doable now. Good luck keep us posted.

I actually just noticed the smoke recently when I was already looking at the back of the car and saw it shoot out....no white residue though

Do a compression check. I only know the 22re motor. The 3.0 might have different problems. But still do a compression check.

Don't know why, but mine did that when I first got it and the mechanic said it was a manifold leak. It wet away when I put in the headers.

Or maybe it was just covered up.

Haha outta sight outta mind right?

I would get headers but if I do a engine swap why put money in it? And I need suspension lol

Idk, are their mods that are made for the 3.0s to give it some more kick than stock? Cam? Can they handle boost decently? If they can then why not twin turbo it?
