To begin with, I did not remove the engine so I don't have anything to reference to where two things need to go.

Facts:
1995 3.0 V6 5spd 4wd

The first is an electrical connection. Its on the drivers side and is on the same run as the electrical plugs for the fuel injectors. In fact, it splits off at the same location as the middle injector. I have searched, but come up empty as to what it should be plugging into. Any help?

The second problem I have is the lines off of the power steering pump. I can not find where these are supposed to hook up to. Any suggestions?

I was able to figure out the power steering issue. I wasn't thinking that they could have been vacuum lines.

I still am stuck on what the extra electrical connector is.

I have a 95 runner.. right now its got the heads off, at the machine shop. but I'll look when I get home from work..

That plug is for the knock sensor, the knock sensor is in the block between the two banks of cylinders. the wire is run up through a cut out in the lower intake manifold, I have seen this forgotten and the wire laying under the manifold. May be why you cant find it?

Appreciate the help guys. If ever you need any help with an E30 or E36 BMW I will happily offer my help as well as extensive photos of many different engine tear removals and tear downs.

Looks like I will have to pull the intake plenum and manifold back off tomorrow to find this wonderful knock sensor. I talked to the guy who had done the removal and began the installation this evening. He mentioned having a "spare electrical connector" coming out just above the trans. I have a funny feeling that it going to be the knock sensor.

Thanks, I'm needing to change the valve cover gaskets on my E36 (97 328i) I'll keep you in mind.

Its a straight forward job. I would highly advise changing out all of the stud gromets as well. The stud, gromet, and nuts are often sold together as a set for dirt cheap. I recently replaced all of mine and they were less than $3 each.
