My little 4Runner RTE project...
I just recently purchased a 1986 4Runner RTE...has 140,000 on her. Drove her home, then preceded to tear right into her. I wasnt going to go this deep, but it kind of just kept escalating. I started with "I'll just do the body work and paint it", then it turned into, "Well, the interior is shot at best, might as well fix that well I'm at it." Theeen, "I hate automatics, need a 5 speed...so i should do that at the same too." My final thought was "Screw it, I'll just rebuild the engine and put a T3/T4 turbo on it."
Thats a turbo...?
Thats better...
Its completely gutted at the moment, wish i had pictures of the interior...it was baaad. PO glued carpet over every panel, and not just the carpet part of the panels, the whole thing. Plan on doing black interior...theres a pic of a mock up seat fabric we did...going to do all seats like this and use that checker pattern for fabric on panels in the truck.
Goodies...
And finally, heres a pic ill throw in of my dads toyota diesel, runs on WVO...
Click on the pics to make them bigger by the way...
Hope you all enjoy, i will try to keep this up to date...any and all suggestions are welcome...John

holy crap, you've really got that thing torn apart!
ah yes, I love how one project can so easily turn into something much bigger I need to replace my timing chain, and now I'm making plans of a complete engine overhaul and engine bay and underbody cleaning, lmao
looks good though man, can't wait to see how she's gunna run!
what kind of engine mods are you making besides the turbo upgrade?

Plan on using a new 22RE head to raise the compression, a MLS HG, head studs, and running 10 or maybe a little more psi. Plan on either building my own or using the steedspeed turbo manifold for her...

10psi AND turbo? isn't that pretty high? but then again I'm not a turbo-knowledge blessed indivudual, lol. That might just be a setup for some mad-crazy HP numbers out of a 22r

Arctic Crap, eh? I didn't think it looked like a Polaris, but the lettering on the flap looked like it said Polaris to me for some reason....
I used to have a Polaris Pro-X 550 with some little goodies...that was way back in middle school though, before I got into trucks.
No more hijacking from me

His truck started life as a 91 toyota 22RE, picked up a older (not sure on year) diesel from a junkyard. We put the diesel in and used the w56 tranny with a conversion bell housing. We converted it to Waste Vegetable Oil ourselves...so that means we drive for free. Its not the fastest thing in the world, but it moves. I own a 87 Ford Ranger 2wd diesel thats converted also. Im looking for 160ish whp. I'm going towards reliable here...lol

This looks like deja-vu. More or less.
I found a thrashed turbo pickup and put the motor in my 4runner. After I rebuilt the motor and got a t3/t4. Now i'm running about 10psi at 8.0:1. It's pretty freaking cool.

I had a machinist friend build me an adapter from toyota to garrett.
Forewarning: Climbing the fence from 22re to 22rte is long, expensive, frustrating, and did I mention expensive?
But when it is done; Wow!
Example: I made a trip from Idaho to Southern California and I was messing with some rich, punk-ass kids in a 7series BMW. We were cruising at about 85+ and I still had plenty left to offer. It is night and day on the highway, i'm still not quite convinced my turbo is right for city use.

I haven't heard too much about LC's stand alone, but Megasquirt I have. I plan on getting one of their infinitly customizable setups here in the future.
I had/have a bov. I took it off because I didn't fee like plumbing in the re circulatory part of it and it ran like crap after every shift or throttle let-off.
I had a cool Idea for a skid-plate mounted intercooler but the plumbing was a huge PITA and it wasn't really what I wanted. Now more of a sleeper idea is in the process.
