I haven't posted much but thought i'd share my experience.

My 94 ext. cab V6, auto. averages 12-15 city and 13-18 highway depending on driving habit. Mileage used to be worse until i switched from ADD to manual hubs. I'd previously installed a K&N Kit, but removed as it provided NO noticeable performance or mileage improvement.

Truck is currently modified with an upgraded cat-back exhaust, Downey springs, shackles and Add-a-leafs on the rear, Rancho 9000's, 33x10.5 Bridgestone Revos, 4.88 gears and Aisin manual hubs. Awaiting install of BJS, Downey torsion bars and RB 1" body lift.

Also looking to replace both power doors (dark green preferred) incase anyone is parting a similar pickup, as it appears the doors from a 4Runner don't fit.

I feel the pain too. I have a 3.0 and a auto tranny and I only get about 13 mpg as well. But I have a set of hubbs to put on and I know I need to put on a new cat.

um it is mostly the engine. a 5.9v8 dodge gets about the same mpg as my yota. with 100 more hp and the truck weighs about 1000lbs more

17 city, up to 27hwy. Hold on, that's a 22RE. nvm

I did look very closely at getting a unmodified 4Runner 3.0 5spd on 225/75r15 highway terrain tires that apparently used to average out at about about 280 miles to the tank around town- thats 20 mpg!! It was in really good shape, but very street-outfitted.

Well, instead we get to fill up for $30 and we get a crappy economy to go along with it.

Yes boys and girls, the auto tranny sucks up to 3 MPG out of your mileage.
I get about 13-14 with a mostly stock (4.10 gears and 30 x 9.50 mud tires) 4Runner. I keep it tuned but need to free up my air movement with a new cat and exhaust, and intake tube.

You are getting decent mileage out of your 3.o.
Don't feel bad. You drive it cuz you "want to" and are ready to live with the good, the bad & the ugly.

I'm planning on building a straight air tube to elimnate the silencer tube and install a MSD box soon. I'll post if those help mileage.

My truck on it's worst day gets 16 MPG - usually 17-18 MPG mixed driving and 20 MPG on the highway although I think if I kept the speeds low and was easier on the pedal I could get 21 or 22 MPG on the highway potentially. Must also be because I have a pickup and the 5 speed manual.
