I had a smitty built bumper and we took off the old bumper and welded brackets to the frame and have killed 3 deer with it with no damage at all!!

The OEM brush guard/damage multiplier bolts down near the front tow hooks, and that's it. Uses four bolts to secure it. My Pickup came with an OEM Toyota brush guard, it does not mount to, or even touch the front bumper.

I doubt this one is a OEM guard....it has "tabs" that are below the middle flat plate on the guard..... They look like they would line up with the License plate bolts, but they are no where near long enough to reach them.


On my 98 T-100, there are brackets that mount to the bumper, that hold the brush guard from the top as well.

Maybe a photo of what your working with will help get you the correct bracket you need. Maybe someone will recognize which brush guard you have. Just an idea. There is only a handful made for these trucks.

The Red Zip ties mark the slots on the sides of the push bumper.











Underneath the middle bar there is a sticker that I can barely get the numbers off.....It says " Front Push Bar 723050" Its hard to read..... Has a long series of number or letters underneath it....but I cant tell what it is.

See...I wasn't making things up when I said they have a 2nd mount on the bumper somewhere for triangulation. Every one I've seen has this, otherwise it would flop around and vibrate when you drive. Probably even has a rubber grommet between the bumper and L-bracket so it doesn't chew up the face of the bumper.

Your brush guard most likely needs a small L-bracket bolted to each of those holes you have the zip ties in, on the inside so you don't see it as much. Looks like a very simple fix. Just make them yourself from a small piece of bent steel and bolt it on. Good luck!

That sure does look like the brush guard I have..... If this one doesn't fit, I'm done with them. This is the second one I have bought that wasn't currently bolted on a toyota, but Guaranteed to fit.


It looks like the bottom will line up with the brackets. I've got a buddy who is going to fab me some up.

If it doesn't fit...I will have a brushguard for sale cheap.

Finally made some brackets and mounted this brush guard. I think it looks Okayish from the front..... but there is a BIG gap along the bottom. Thoughts?

Mine has 4 bolts to L brackets bolted to the tow hooks, 2 bolts to L brackets bolted on the bumper and 2 more smaller bolts on each corner of the bumper to keep the ends from vibrating. Mine has the holes roughly the same height as the ones where you had the red ties but it fits snug to my bumper and has 2 small L brackets to bolt it on. I can take some pics after work today to show you if you like.

This is the small L bracket in the middle of the bumper where your red ties would be.


This is the bracket at the corner. Not necessary but it keeps the ends from vibrating.

As you can see, mine doesn't come close to the fitment of yours. Could this be a bracket issue, or is this for a four-runner?

Anyone want to buy a brushguard?

Hey guys, I have a chrome brush guard that came off my 90 4wd regular cab.(no eye guards) It was toyota specific and followed the bumper lines very well. (looked good and very heavy) If you guys are still looking I'll try to find some pictures of my old truck. I can't find a brand name on it, just some #'s. Let me know if you want some pictures.

I have that brush guard and I didn't need any special brackets. Took mine off a 2nd gen 4runner at the boneyard and removed the headlight grills (didn't like them). It bolted straight on to my 92' pickup. I don't think that one is from a 2nd gen 4runner, its hitting the bumper, you can kind of see on this photo of mine how it should clear.

It's made by WAAG and I believe it was a factory option.

I had a factory toyota brush guard off a 91 4runner on my truck and it had 4 holes that mounted to where the tow hook and tie-down tab mounted to and two more on the edges to mount to the bumper. (which I never mounted) I'll see if I can dig up a picture of it and I will say that it was mostly for looks (followed the lines of the truck perfectly) I did offer slight protection from small trees and brush.
