I think that clear coat really helps to keep the oxidation down.
If you use the paint stripper keep in mind it eats plastic and rubber so you have to remove or carefully mask to keep it from boogering that stuff up.

The only reason I think the spray paint works is because I put multiple coats of clear coat on it. It hasn't faded or scratched. I know its not faded because i redid an area over Christmas when i fixed a dent. It matches exactly with the area around it.
total cost for me was less than 100 bucks IIRC.

I found it i found what i want to do a OD green flat or forest green flat for the body and tan flat for the grill. sweet i really like it. heres a couple LCrs i found pics of that i like. Im thinking ill go with the darker forest green and tan grill, i think the LC looks good with the olive drab its kinda retro military looking but the PU would look better with the darker of the two. what do you guys think olive drab or forest green

It actaully brought up a couple pictures like that, and they are all actually from an old thread on this site, I think some guy just drew them up himself to play with or something

If you go this route (which I like btw) go with the olive drab, would look sweet on a 3rd gen pickup,
just make sure that you get actual olive drab, as I know some people have gotten olive drab that wasn't nearly as dark as they wanted (they wanted it to look like the first FJ you posted) but it came out much, much lighter

Remember: Flat paint is hard to clean up and make it look okay when it's clean. If you want to be able to shine up your truck every once in a while, go with a gloss paint or just clear coat the flat (turns it glossyish). I spray painted my truck with rustoleum camo flat green (I think they call it deep forest green). As long as you scrub it, the mud won't stain the paint, but if you just rinse it, it will look dirty after it dries. the flat black is even worse. I think thundercloud gray like on the 1st gen 4runners would look cool on that truck.
