ISR Mod Revisited

Not trying to but I was working on an ISR mod, similar to what thook had made, using 2 1/2" conduit. After a few cuts, I realized I didn't have enough material, and also that the angles weren't quite matching. So, after looking at it a little more, the light bulb came on. I used part of the stock intake that hooks up to the throttle body. That also eliminated the need to put 1 extra fitting in place. The tube is slightly curved, but the stock piece gives a little more room for adjustment.

Has anyone fabbed it up like this?

looks good to me!

paint it black, and it'll blend right in like stock!

unless you want bling, then maybe you could cover it in aluminum foil, shiny side out of caurse

good job!

It's still in the fitting phase. But others have reported better throttle response, and possible increase in low end. I'm not banking on much of a performance improvement, but I'll take anything. If it's like doing this on other cars (done it on a 4 cyl. once), there is a minimal gain. It's a cheap enough mod to try it out.

one thing is certain; you will "hear" the difference

I get less MPG after my intake mod, just cause I like to stomp on the skinny pedal and hear it!

Ya, that's a plus. I could always pipe a hose from the intake into the cab, like my GTI has on it. Then I'd really hear it.

Honestly, I got bored, and wanted to do something on the truck. Apparently, it was not enough for me to rebuild the engine, I have to go playing around like this.

No, my friend. Just accept and embrace that in which you will never escape from. It's like life, you never get out of it, alive. But know this, she can and will be a cruel Mistress. Your wallet and bank accounts will never be the same....never recover, from whom in which I bow to.......the Mistress and claimed another.

Chilling and invigorating, isn't it?!!?

Welcome to the Addiction

Cyberman,

Did you heat and pre-bend the conduit? It looks like it in the photos.

That piece started out as a piece of Carlon 3" 45° belled end elbow, that I bought at Lowes. So it already had a bend to it.

I've never seen anyone do the ISR like that, but definitely good idea. Hopefully it will give you more clearance to reach the dipsticks than the way I did it.........which was just purely the conduit elbow and rad hose connections. It works, eh.

I noticed nothing other than better throttle response from mine. That and the titillating "vroom!". (hehe.......I said tit...hehe...hehe). Then again, I'm dealing with the automatic transmission. I imagine it's like having a crack pipe with a crack in it. Addiction is the same, but the return on your having sold your soul for the pleasure is rather disappointing.

BTW, s'up homies......
