Okay never mind. I flipped out over nothing. Looked on progressive for ANOTHER quote but this one on my 2wd and they want $253 a MONTH! LOL.

Anyway, my mom only pays like $80 a month for my 2wd. I'm going to try to jump on her profile and pay for my own insurance. lol

lol...I know. I was planning on just towing it up into the mountains with my dolly and having fun for a day then drive home

Not sure if my little 2wd can tow that big beast.

But I need a hitch for my 2wd.

Dude, I hate to point this out, but you can't be an aggressive driver AND a defensive driver at the same time. The two are mutually exclusive.

I pay $75 a month for liability only. I won't pay the $15 a month because insurance companies dont pay you what the vehicle is worth after an accident. So why bother?

My fiance and I are having to sue an insurance company because some jackass hit us and destroyed her car. Worth $7000 at the time and the company wants to give us $1000. $1200 if we sell the car to them.

I like the way it is in Australia: Insurance is not compulsory. If you want it, fine. If you dont, then if you get in a wreck then you're screwed.

Another contributing factor is the color of the vehicle. When I was 16 I had a little fun looking at insurance costs on Progressive, first of all, being 16, male, unmarried, having a RED (on average i think $50 more to insure a red vehicle) truck that was older with no real safety features besides seat belts and the drivers-side "bar" was like $1900 for 6 MONTHS. Right now I'm 19, I'm still on my moms policy, but I pay for it myself, its about 900 for six months. when I was 16-17-18, it was close to $1400 for six months, but my mom still payed it for me. This is through Geico. If I were to start my own policy, it would be around $1300 for six months right now. I also got $200 off for six months for good grades in high school. I wouldn't doubt it if my '88 4runner is more to insure, being older, and a 2door vehicle with back seats, yet the insurance might see it as not a complete loss if it is totaled since, to them, its worth nigh even $1K probably. I'll just have to see...

im still on my parents policy and i pay 168/month for my 92 ext. cab Pickup 4x4. idk what it would be if i was on my own. not much more id hope. oh, and im 18 as well. no tickets, hell, ive never been pulled over. 2 wrecks but both were drunk drivers that hit me. not my fault.

try having a 2000 Mustang your senior year and only being 17/18...

with a wreckless driving violation, and 2 speeding tickets under your belt...

lol, that's why I got rid of the Stang; I got into even more trouble on the road once I got that, and had to sell it because I couldn't afford it. and I guess another reason I got rid of it was to keep me from getting my licence suspended...

I was a hellion on wheels back in the day

I say back in the day, hell that was only 4/5 years ago but a lot's changed sence then...

Now I'm 21, about to be 22 this March, and I only pay $65 a month through Allstate

Anybody else can't drive another vehicle because insurance costs are too high?
Ya...it was the same for me . As soon as I turned 25, my insurance dropped in half. That was 27 years ago
