idling at 2700 RPM!!!
This is with the idle air screw completly closed off, the throttle cable UNHOOKED, I cant even drop the rpm by pressing the throttle linkage back to fully close it off.
Any ideas.

this is when warm. I disconnected the tps and it went higher.

i dont think vac leak last week when this ish started happening, i hit the hoses with carb cleaner while running and it didnt jump then, but today this high idle ish happens.

It may be the air bypass that is under the throttle body. When the temperature controlled valve lets go it causes these symptoms. It could also be a vac leak.

If the idle air valve goes bad or breaks internaly it can`t close after the engine warms up, so you have a large amount of air getting into the throttle body. If this is your problem, try and find a good used idle air valve, a new one is around 200 dollars.

Why not just retard the timing? If yours has a distributor just loosen the nut on it and move the the distributor cap to the left or play with it until you have the idle you want dunno if this is the right step or anything just throwing my 2 cents in here.

Retarding the timming is not a fix for this problem. The idea here it to fix the problem corectly, not try and cover it up by adjusting the timming or anything else.

ok i will most likely just get a new one, I would rather do it right. Autozone sells them for like 109 bucks. This thing lets air in behind the throttle body butterfly i guess? Is this why it still going even when i close the throttle flap all of the way?

Can i block it off or disable it at all? I ordered one, overnighted by Autozone online, so i hope this works. There are only like 4 phillips head screws that hold the valve on the bottom of the throttle body right?

Yeah i know, i took a light crack at em when i had my throttle body off doing the TPS adjustment. Some soaking with liquid wrench and some flame should ease the process.
