On a similar though, back in my wilder days as a hell raising youth (who am I trying to kid, I still do it), me and my friends would go mud up ft. sam houston at night making the MPs come out and chase us. We'd keep those camo close knit see threw covers that you use for making a deer blind rolled up in the back. After loosing sight of them we'd pull out the cover, cover up the truck or 4wheelers (depending what we were riding), and watch the MPs fly on by never seeing us. Man it's fun as hell...
Must say though, they finally caught us a couple months back when I was pulling my buddy's truck outta the creek... Uhg, it's not fun being held for a day by the government... Seems those MPs held grudges.

we head out somewhere they've never been before at night, but I know the trail, so when I hit a smooth spot, pick up speed and loose em, round the next corner, pull of in the bush, shut everthing down and cover up... and watch them drive by like "where the hell?"... and then 10 seconds later my cellular device rings...
lol, good times...

Lol so I was looking at the flatbed a couple minutes ago... I just realized it'd be awesome to mount a chair to the flatbed! Maybe something like a fishing boat swivel seat.

Ok, so time for a little scratch your brains and tell me what you think time.
So I'm picking up a piece of plate the exact size of the plywood tomorrow. Now it's half inch thick. I'm thinking of ditching the 2x4s and instead swinging by 4wp's and getting them to give me some 2" body lift bushings for free. And the whole reason of the 2x4 or 2" bushings, is so that I can clear the hump in the framerail and gas tank. BUT, I'm wondering if that 1/2" plate is gonna bow with some weight on in without any "cross-members", which the 2x4s served as. What do yall think?

bow under its own weight? i don't think so, thats pretty thick stuff, but on that, why don't you just get some 1-1/4 square tubing instead?? and then you wouldn't have to make anything fancy. OR, get some 4x4s, i think 1'' steel is OVERKILL

Not 1" plate, I'm gonna use 1/2" plate. I'm not worried about it bowing under it's own weight, I'm worried about bowing when you put any kind of a weight on it, such as a motorcycle or atv, if I don't use crossbars.
The 2x4 or 2" bushings are purely to get the "deck" of the flatbed to clear the frame hump and fuel tank. A 4x4 would be unnecessarily high (I only need 2" to clear everything). I could use some 2" square tubing, but I'm trying to see how little it can all be done for.

Although I can't see the pictures I can imagine what it looks like......
What are the measurements of the steel plate you want to use? I know it's a half inch thick but what about the length/width? I ask so I can' punch it into a claculator and see what the weight is going to be. You might be better off trading that to someone with some thiner diamond plate and then running some ribs across the long axis of the plate.
Or not.

Now that's an idea. Basically going with the same dimensions as the plywood. 64"x46"x.5" Would figured it out but I don't have any reference weight numbers handy...

With those demensions you're looking at close to 420 pounds of steel, not to mention whatever else you toss back there.
Oh and I can't see the pictures because I'm at work and the "Big Brother" doesn't like us gubment types doing anything that mighe be seen as enjoyable.
