HOT after long trip inside truck!?

I have a 1995 4runner sr5 limited with 3.0 and 5-speed. After driving 4 about hours straigh from asheville, NC to raleigh, NC the inside of the truck starting heating up really bad. The stick on the shifter was hot for both the trans and the t case. and the seats felt like they had heated seats. I went to check under the carpet under the second row where bottle jack is and found that there was no insulation uder the carpet...so that is probably my answer right there. just wondering if you guys got hot inside the cab too? my truck and i have a young friendship.

Also the coolant temp gauge was normal, and there were no signs of an overheating.

Yup, I've got a 1994 4runner 3.0 SR5 5speed, and its gotten pretty damn hot in there a bunch of times... Of course, that was because my air conditioning was broken.

i have a 3.0, 5spd 4runner and on long trips(which i take about every other week or every weekend) The inside of the can does get hot.

THere is thick insulation under the carpet on the floors, just not by the jack and rear cargo area.

i always wear shorts on these trips, because, well, the leg area gets hot from the transmission. at some points it feels like my leg hairs are burning.

overall you should be fine. to be saft, try checking your transmission fluid level.
im not sure how, because im way to lazy to do it myself.

hope i help!

X2. MY heater blower motor is broken. BUT.... I also have an aditionally tranny cooler since I have a 3.0 with 5.79 gearing (and a solid axle).... But considering that - driving up to estes park in the mountains the other day (45 min at 6% grade) I was feling the heat through the floor boards... I remembered why I got a 2nd tranny cooler.

For the record: At 5.79 gears and at 75 miles per hour at 75MPH for 340 miles from Longomont to Moab I only had a tranny problem at the Moab turnoff 40 miles from Moab (after that I got the tranny cooler) Have not have had problems since and my gearing is wicked low too! I also since the tranny cooler have driven to Farmington over wolf creek pass tha was 400 miles and no tranny problems.... I hope to do this again in a month.... God I hope...

Oh, yeah... I forgot, if you have your vents on out side air setting, and the slide on hot, then you will get pretty hot air coming in there. this is not possible with the A/C on though.

...The heat from the engine will heat up your stick shift so that wonder why your stick shift is hot.

i usually wear sandles on road trips because my feet bake with the headers. On hot summer road trips I can never get enough AC in the cab between the feet and the upper vents...
