High Cold Idle
1991 dlux 22re, 70K on engine, ~170K on truck
When cold, truck idles high, round 2200 rpms. I found a thread that discusses beneath teh throttle body there is valve where coolant flows that can be adjusted. The threads have pic that have been removed and so I'm not sure what I'm dealing with.
Simple question is whether I must remove the throttle body to get at that adjustment.
Another question is whether my truck even has this valve adjuster.
I've looked on a couple of FSM's and there weren't any mention of this adjuster.

No particular such thing as a high cold idle since the AAV under your throttle body is meant specifically to raise the idle while the engine coolant is below approximately 100F or so, and the colder it is the higher the idle can be. It is considered non-adjustable hence no mention of it in the FSM other than the coolant passages to/from it- its failure would generally require replacement of the throttle body. Although technically it can be cleaned, serviced and adjusted, doing so with any accuracy would require air flow measurements and the ability to control its temperature which is beyond the capability of most home-mechanics as well as dealerships' service centers too.
It is an enhancement designed to warm the engine up more quickly thus allowing the engine to reduce emissions sooner and gives you a more comfortable cabin to sit in, sooner, and assist drivability making the engine more responsive when cold since a cold gasoline engine requires a richer fuel mixture when cold.
So having blathered all that out at you, does the idle eventually reach the stock 800 or so RPM when warmed up? If so, no problem.
