Help need ASAP, 89 3.0 stalling/flooding
My neighbor has a 89 3.0 4X4 truck that is very hard to start. It will start and idle fine sometimes, but most other times it will pour black smoke out the exhaust once it starts, he must feather the throttle to keep it running and bring the RPM's up to clear it out then it will run ok. He started it up the other day and it ran fine, drove it down to open his gate and when he got in to go, it died and wouldn't start for 10 minutes. We have replaced the cold start injector, throttle body, (heads where replaced with new ones about 6000 miles ago) injectors have about 10,000-15000 miles on them, sprayed carb cleaner around the plenum and intake, with no change. I shorted out the TE1 pin and I think it called out the temp sensor (the flashes are hard to decipher) although I don't think this would cause this much havoc. This problem has gotten progressively worse over the last year.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
