Help me with this weber

I have an 85 xtr cab 4x4 with 22r and a weber 32 36 with the redline 2 piece adapter and ive never in the 3 months iv had the truck been impresed with the weber my bro has an 87 4x4 22r and he has way beter throtle responce and i know there not fast trucks. and now it wants to die at lights and stops, it is cold here but it just shuts off no bucking or anythin just like you shut her off. that just started, once its warmed up it wont do it and i know the choke is working cause first start it i high idle and few mins later the choke lets off. and sometimes the dam thing will diesel when i shut it off.. timing is set to around 6-8 so it should be fine and its not gettin hot so i dont know. i know the 2 piece adapters are junk and if i spray starting fluid at the base of the carb the idle will climb so there is probably a vacume leak there, any body got any other sugg? Iv heard about fuel pressure reg for this aplication but dont have one on there could the pressure be to high? Who knows

pressure needs to be ~3.5lbs.

fix the leak first.
change the fuel filter too.
there may be a idle cut valve off thats not functioning, used to have to drop the clutch to stop it from dieseling.

when was it rebuilt last? may be time to do it again, often the accelerator pump goes bad.

by leak i mean vaccume.. do you know what a stock 22r fuel pump puts out? the fuel filter was just changed when i did head gasket about a month ago. as far as the rebuild i have no idea, the idle cut off i dont think it has one isnt that electrical? it only has one wire and its for choke. thanks and let me know what you think. i will make a new gasket for the base tonight

The Weber tech that I talked to told me that you can't plug the fuel return line like the instructions say. He said something to the effect that the instructions are written based on a different motor.

I was experiencing similar problems and when I reconnected the fuel return line I was able to stop most of the problems.

Carbs live off vacuum. Don't understand why there would be a fuel return for a carb? You answered your own question regarding the vacuum leak. Adapters are often the source of a problem. Especially when made by someone else. Got to take it all off and skull out the vacuum issue. Its not the carb unless its worn out, bad power valve or dead accelerator pump. Shut down dieseling is likely too high of an idle caused by vacuum leak.

Some ideas.......

I do not have my manual with me. Where does the fuel return line run rom and to? How can that affect the carb? I am going to install mine tomorrow and noticed that the directions said to block it off.
Thanks
