head work help

I need to put new valve seals in my 22re and also want to install a performance cam. I was wondering:

1. Is there a way to replace the vaalve seals w/o removing the head?

2. do I have to get new lifters, springs, etc. if I gat a mild low to mid performance cam?

I believe you can replace the seals without removing the head. When I did the head job a few weeks ago, we had to remove the head to replace a broken headgasket. While it was off, we decided to do the valves and seals too, but it wasn't necessary. It does make the job a lot easier though, if you know what you're doing (we didn't, and ended up with less bolts and nuts than we started out with)
