grill/headlight swap
for those who suggest that I search, I have...
So... this is the grill/headlight setup I've got:
and I'm considering changing them...
Now... I know lots of people out there have changed their Runners to the older style grill and lights. Many have done the opposite. And I've seen more than a few pickups converted to the 4Runner composite type as well... but want I'm thinking of doing, is something I've never seen done, and can't find the answers to my questions after a long time searching...
What I'm thinking, is to swap to this style grill/headlights from a pickup..
I know I'd need different corner lights (from a 90-91 4wd). And that there would be issues mounting the headlights.
To do the opposite swap, most people say the core support needs to be swapped too... but no threads I've come across have gone into too much detail for this swap (from composite to sealed beam style). Can this swap be done without swapping the core support? If yes, what kind of modifications need to be done?
Also, would there be any issue with mounting that style grill? Are all the mounting points the same? Will I have any issue with using my current bumper?
If this info is already out there, I did my best to find it before posting...
Any info would be helpful... pictures are good too..
sorry if I'm

The real question is why?
Your current setup has much better lights than the sealed beam ones.
I've never seen or heard of a backwards conversion.
The 4Runner's did come with that sealed beam (squared headlights) lights in the years prior to your model.
To answer your original question:
I believe you will need the rad support from the older model (square headlights) as well as the grill, corner lights and possibly the bumper.
I suggest you spend a little time at pick and pull and look at the differences for yourself.
You may also need to re-wire your headlight wiring harness as the plugs for the headlights may not be the same.
