Hey guys I feel like such a noob for asking for help with this, but I am about to loose it. It's over 100 degrees and I have been trying to remove my hub for the last 2 hours. I need to put on some new rotors. I have the cone washers out now, but for the life of me I can't find the lock washer that is holding everything in place. I have seen you tube videos and I can see it on the dudes truck but not mine. It is like the washer is not even there, but the hub will still not come off. I have seen several write ups on this but they all just kinda skip over this step. Their instructions often say remove the hub. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks I already have the fsm. It says the hub should just pop off after the nut and washer is removed, but that's not happening no matter how hard I hit it with a rubber mallet.

Gold bolt with washer in end of axle shaft or C clip on axle removed?

Probably just stuck from years being on there. Try brass drift and 3 lb sledge.

Gasket or RTVd on there or can you tell?

Hard to tell. I think it's a gasket.
Damn thing just won't budge. I will keep swinging away.

Small chisel and just tap around the seam where the free wheeling hub joins the axle hub.

The first time in a few years they can be a real bugger.:wabbit2:

Knuckle service kit will replace all those parts.

The star washer is supposed to be bent like that. One tab over the inside 54mm nut, one tab over the outside 54mm nut so they don't back off.

Ok thanks that clears things up. I came across another issue. I always heard that you should replace the inner bearing seal when you do this job. Thats actually what the write up on 4x4wire I am using says to do. Well a long time ago my dumbass ordered the wrong part, which of course I find out today. I have marlin crawler inner axle seals. Naturally, I called three Toyota dealerships and I can only find one inner bearing seal. Of course they charge full price. I have a dealer in ga that I usually use because he charges way less, but that means i would get the parts much later in the week. That is no bueno when this is my DD and it's sitting on jacks.

So if I get a seal puller would I be able to pull the inner seal and reuse it? Everything internally looks to be in great shape. Gotta love a Toyota.

Sorry to bump this, just wanted to see if anyone can answer if the inner bearing seals can be reused or not.

Thanks for letting me know. Looks like I can only source one inner seal right now so looks like I will have to do this project next weekend. For now I will just put everything back together.

Are there any other things that I should replace while in am in there besides the inner seals and gaskets for the hub?

The bearings looked like they were brand new so I think I am good there.

If you got the hubs off without ruining the seals and your not repacking the inner bearing I have gone through 2 sets of brakes on the same seals

if you pull out the seals you should repack the inner bearings sort of the only reason to remove a seal unless it is leaking.

You do have the correct or makeshift tools for installing the seals not that your left hanging again.
