Funny sound while driving
Ok so I recently had to change my fuel pulsation damper. Which means I had the intake plenum off and all that disconnected. Got it all back together and only had to glue two things. No check engine light after.
Went on a long drive on a rough road with lots of uphill in 2nd and 3rd gear. Got stuck in mud once and was doing a whole lot of spinning in 4wd hi and low. Got out, drive back.
Now when I accelerate I hear this sound like playing cards in the spokes. It's there through all gears but mainly 3 to 5. It doesn't happen in neutral.
I have a 94 pickup with the 3vze. I wonder if maybe a vacuum hose is leaking? Or there's an exhaust leak somewhere? I don't think it's the u joints. This is a lighter sound.
I haven't driven for long enough periods since to know if it goes away after a while. Any thoughts?

Turns out it does make the sound while just idling. I think it's an exhaust leak. Never heard one before but it makes sense. I may have busted my egr pipe in half at some point and JB welded it together and wrapped it in tape. I bet it's leaking there. Any harm in exhaust leaks other than power loss?

Well that sounds pleasant. Yep. Can't smell exhaust but it might not hurt to get a little co detector. Gotta find a "new" egr assembly at a junkyard. Or find a better way to patch that. Any suggestions on sealing a rough break so it doesn't leak?
