I hope you bought a "good" fuel pump to put in so you won't have to do that again

That's why it's called an intermittent problem....hehe.

Congratulations!!! The last time I had to change a fuel pump was in my wife's '92. I had to drop the fuel tank in the middle of an O'Reilly parking lot, had to borrow their tools, and was there until three in the morning. Fortunately my wife is quick to supply snacks and moral support....lol! Turned out, though, the pump wasn't the problem (though is was getting weak) and got a new AFM from CougeyPooh! Oh, and a box of chocolates with flowers. He's su'tch a s'thweety. XXXXX

Well, atleast they're easy to get to!!!! Dang!! I wonder why Toyota didn't continue to make the FP access panel like they did in the first gen's. Man....that's brilliant stuff.

As for aftermarket stuff, I learned enough times if you can find any info on a web search about the AM companies, it pays to do so before you buy. Otherwise, ask whoever will answer you straight about the amount of returns on the item/s in question......even though that doesn't necessarily mean you won't get a lemon. Sometimes that just happens.

Toyota Grrl:
As far as advice....You are more than welcome.
The great thing about these forums is that when a problem arises and a thread is started you have the whole world as a resource. You state your problem and all of a sudden a fellow Toyota nut writes a post and says, "I had that problem too, here's what I found"!
I think it's great that you are trying to learn, we all started where you are, so never apologize for your lack of knowledge. A very wise man said " that a day is a good one, if you learn something". You had a good day!
I've got a pretty good idea of your age (my girls are a few years older) and I'm not going to tell you that I'm older than dirt...but I'm close, but when I started working on vehicles, the internet wasn't even someone's dream, if my Dad (a pretty good mechanic) or the local mechanics couldn't help me with a problem, I had to learn the hard way! With a resource like "Yotatech" it's all about sharing knowledge and suggesting possible causes for the problem at hand.
I'm glad I was able to help!
Take Care!

Red face

As much as these fuel filters are a pain to change I always relocate and install a new one when I need to change a fuel pump on a 22REC engine.

That is a cool forklift I will guess it sure makes some things easier.

Good luck and I am glad you got it figured out.

Well, I guess we won't know. It's been three months and she probably won't post back. Unless the pump fails, again.....hahaha!
