Fresh 22re rebuild, oil POURING from the headgasket

Upon first startup from a fresh rebuild of the bottom end, in a giant rush it dumped close to an entire quart of oil on the garage floor. Upon closer inspection it appears to have been coming from the head gasket. Anti-freeze and oil did not mix. Any suggestions?

Some aftermarket head gaskets have to be torqued more than the factory specs. Re-torque the headbolts with 5 ft-lbs more and check it again. Repeat if it doesn't stop.

But OP said bottom end was done....does that mean the HG stays on, or just everything but the head is re-done (and the head is removed and new HG installed)?

The head has to come off to rebuild the bottom end. If they rebuilt the bottem end I'm sure they knew to use a new gasket...

Were is it leaking? Pass/Dr/Front?

I have personally used a head gasket that had to be torqued more than factory specs to or oil would leak from the Pass side where the big oil return is at. If it is leaking from the front and you didn't mess up the gasket during the install, then make sure you remembered the front bolt in the timing cover.

Of course we used a new headgasket. It's leaking towards the front of the passenger side. We torqued it down more than factory...still leaking just as much. That front bolt you're talking about is in.
