fj80 lift spring height on 4runner
Forgive me if this question has an obvious answer. I just installed a solid axle in my 95 4runner and ended up with 30.5" from wheel center to fender trim. I'm slowly gathering pieces for rear coil-overs but for now I just need to get it on the road. Just wondering since stock fj coils give 3.5-4" do 2" lift springs give 5.5-6" or would they give more due to the lighter weight of the 4runner. I'm trying to level this thing out and fj lift coils are pretty cheap ($150) i know this method isnt ideal. Thanks for the input.

I've been kind of wondering the same thing. After I get a manual trans swapped in my truck and get the engine running perfect and take care of oil leaks I'm going to start saving for the SAS and was hoping to find a similar temp fix like you are although I'm leaning more towards the rear TG kit rather than coil overs.
The only problem I can see from observation alone and no real life experience is the links being too short in the rear along with needing a pretty large panhard drop bracket to compensate for the lift.
Through search I also read that with that combo it makes the vehicle quite unstable and tippy offroad. It's somewhere on this site I just can't remember who the member was. She actually rolled her truck from what I remember.
I wish you luck and please do post your results if you have time.

Run leaves. I ran coils on the back of mine for a month and was full of body roll. Not stable at all when the geometry is that out of wack. Not to mention rear bumpsteer. After dropping the panhard mount it would still roll all over and bind up when flexing. But if you must I believe you get four to six out of them. If you go that route I would fab a new link system or at least longer lowers with spherical joints and raise the top links off the housing a little.. But at that point you might as well run leaves easier to do in my opinion and the flex and ride are awesome. That's my two cents. Good luck let's see some pics.

I would extend the links to compensate for the lift. The main reason I don't want to do rear leaf is time. I can extend the links and install coils in no time. I'm doing all the work outside in a gravel driveway. I can't weld either. So I have to wait on a friend to do that. If I extend the links shouldn't that help the geometry or am I missing something. If you had all the bracketry from a rear lift kit to go with the coils it wouldn't be so.bad. However why sas the front and mall.crawl the back. I've seen upper links ripped apart with normal lift kits when wheeled hard that's a lot of leverage on relocation brackets.

Too bad your not in Colorado you could come by the shop with some beer and I would help you out. I see your dilemma without.a welder or work space. Not to mention removing all the crap off the axle.

Well I'm going to check with a friend of mine about building what I need for the coil-overs. If I'm going to wait for progress it may as well be for the coil-overs. Who knows maybe I'll juSt do a leaf swap
