Engine build on a '89 Pickup
#41
So it seems like I should just build the stock 22RE and keep it stock, untill the heat death of the universe or its death,(whichever comes first). Or prepare for a swap?

For minimum downtime, rebuild the long block on an engine stand, then spend a few days swapping the old 22R-E with the "new". They are easy to work on and reliable. Plus, that would mean no other modifications to the truck. This would also give you a good lesson in engine maintenance, so if you want to do a swap down the line, it'll be a lot easier.
