How do you convert from electric fan back to a mechanical fan. Previous owner installed a electric fan and it stopped working. This is causing my 3.0 to get hot, like almost at the red hot, and we all know 3.0s don't like heat.

Or if anyone knows a simple fix to them not turning on let me know, I replaced the relay and it still doesn't work, the fuse is also good

Could I wire it so that it constantly runs? How would I do that?

A hot wire (with fuse) and a ground should make it run!

is the fan getting power? does it have a temp switch on it? should have checked to see if it was getting power before you put a relay in it.

So disconnect everything except the ground and +(battery) wire?

The relay was already on the car, I just replaced it. I'll check to see if its getting power, it should because the fuse isnt blown out

remove the electric fan and bolt up the fan with clutch..

I have a fan with a clutch on it i can sell, since I converted

Id take you up on that offer but I need to get this fixed tomorrow, it's my commuter and I don't want to sit in traffic and over heat. Also I don't want to go back to a mechanical fan because I've been reading up and found out they are kinda useless during idle.

So basically I need help to wire this thing to always run with the ignition on. Im clueless about wiring

This is why I asked him to check to be sure it's actually getting power. if it is then any kind of wiring you do is NOT going to work.

He has yet to come back to let us know if it's even getting power first.

Yes it is getting power so what I did was I disconnected the two wires from the temp sensor and connected them to each other so the fan will run if the ignition is on.

I connected the battery back on, turn the key and my heart skipped a couple beats IT TURNED ON!!!! So that's a temporary fix until I can get a new temp sensor

It is what came with the flex a lite kit I'm assuming, the previous owner did the swap but it is a switch near the radiator with a little probe thing u stick inbetween the fins of the radiator

i have an Electric fan that came off of my '86 22R pickup....and it cooled just perfectly fine on the '86...think it could cool this big ole V6???

It might, try it out. The one on my v6 isn't a massive fan. But I know a lot of people do the mercury/Lincoln or Taurus electric fan swap, so look into that as well

yea i was orginally going to do the Taurus/Mercury villager fan swap......but then i found my old one off my 22R lmao
