diesel pickup

hello, there is a 1987 4x4 pickup for sale down the road from me and i was wondering if the 2L diesel motor was a good motor or not, i havent ever heard of them before, the owner is from europe and he said they are common over there but over here they are very rare. i was just wondering if anybody had any experience with them.

My next door neighbor has one. They are super awesome trucks, and he gets ridiculously good fuel mileage in his.

what about the gear ratios? are they different from the 4cyls, any info would be great. im thinking about buying it off of him. it needs work body wise and it has a stepside box off of a ford on it and it looks terrible.

Go get it dude. I don't think you'll be sorry at all.

I want to covert my wheeling rig over to diesel but the cost is too high.

From what I've read the 2L is quite slow without a turbo, but descent with one. If taken care of they'll last a long time and get pretty good mileage though. Is this a Canadian truck? They quit bringing diesels to the US in '85.
