For the time being, we are performing the swap at a shop in Austin. If you have any questions, ask away. Yes, the unit is from Jarco. The one we have right now has 72,000 miles on it. I just purchased a timing belt/tensioner/water pump/idler pulley and factory coolant from Toyota for less than $300 complete. I always recommend doing this simple maintenance while you can easily get to it. You never know with these japanese half cuts. The mileage may be low but they idle alot in traffic. This makes for cheap insurance. -Todd

The half cut comes with a diesel filler tube. You just take out the in-tank fuel pump. Crimp the wires powering the pump (outside the tank), then replace the missing pump with a length of rubber fuel injection hose, then cap off the breather tube going out of the tank. There is no low pressure pump or lift pump. The fuel pressure it maintained by the injection pump. -Todd

diesel. mounted on the driver's side opposite the stock tank. i took measurements and a 29"x14"x14" outside measured tank will clear the driveshaft, cab and rear crossmember. it will also be level with the bottom of the frame. i think. i may need the make room for the filler neck. haven't got that far, yet.

The best one's I've seen are mounted in the bed inside of a tool box. That way you can easily remove them if necessary. Usually for WVO conversions. Will that clear the exhaust system? -Todd

i had planned to move the exhaust outside the frame on the driver's side to make room for the 2nd tank, but with this swap all of the dimendions and routing will change. besides, everything is on hold 'til i get the cash for the diesel swap

With a $4999 price tag, I would sell as much of the leftovers as I could.
Jarco only gets a Manual KZ-TE in about once a year so I guess I should start saving my pennies for next year.

I wouldnt put a manual one in if it were me. The manual trans are punchy, but nothing like the auto box models. The autos keeps the turbo spooled up throughout the gears so it's seems much more peppy than the manual.Plus, the manual trans models are rare as hens teeth. It's not so much that they're rare in Japan, just here. In Japan, people tend to hang onto them alot longer so they are higher mileage half cuts.

TOYOTA choices diesels and gas, I'm leaning toward the diesels after driving one overseas smooth, with plenty of torque. was a toyota FX i believe..I'll be watching out for your threads for sure.

If your gonna do a 5spd with a 5spd ecu it should be no problem at all, at least it isn't with a 3.4 swap. Even still there are those who have used an auto ecu and fooled it to make it work with a 5spd.
