my intentions were to have something a lil different. the "not legal" part wasn't a big concern for me. Florida=no inspections and the town i live in have bigger fish to fry if you know what i mean. lol

Not too bad looking if i say so myself...
I have a plane clear set on my 91 PU...
I like the 2-bulb design, though what I would do is ditch the blue bulb, put in another amber 194, and cut up how it's wired now and wire it into the turn signals...
would work well for any of you guys with winch or tube bumpers too!

personally, I don't care much one way or the other. I think they look good, and would use them if my truck wasn't going to be on the road, but I'm not going to risk getting caught with illegal lights.
so I just thought I'd throw that out, that the lights aren't street legal.
do what you will so long as it harms none...

and what exactly is so illegal about clear corner lights? Every tom dick and harry around here has their superduty, tacoma, tundra, escalade, suburban... on and on... with clear lights.
Whats the big deal? I've never had a cop biitch at me for clear front turn signals...

they look great!!! id buy them if i werent a starving student too...
but for me it doesnt really matter if the head lights are illegal...
in our scion club, a lot of people run illegal headlights around the sacramento area, and none of us have gotten tagged...
but to each his own...

the issues with them being illegal is not with the lights, even though that is an issue as well... but...
federal regs (D.O.T.) require amber REFLECTORS... and those corner lights do away with the amber REFLECTOR that was installed by TOYOTA and is required.

Plus the lenses have to be stamped with DOT to be legal...as do the bulbs. I dinged on an inspection when the guy pulled out my headlight and said "its not stamped with DOT - I've got to fail you." - same goes for any exterior light on your vehicle that might operate when the vehicle is on the road. My Hella's - not stamped and illegal to use on the road -even though they are "driving lights".

As long as the bulb color is amber almost all states won't make an issue of it but most states don't care as long as it's amber or white,it's the blues or reds which attract the negative attention since only emergency vechicles can have certain colors reflecting forward like red or blue.

Gee what kind of state inspector pulls the headlight to check if its DOT or not? The only thing the cops will hassle you for around here is a blue light showing forward...
They could make an issue of the no reflector thing but usually they'll only use that as an added offense if they nab you for something else and you give them attitude...
