Click fixed - Now Rear main seal leak
Hello: I had starting issues all year with only the relay clicking - Found the GROUND on the firewall wasn't connected back to the engine after mechanic did new engine. THANK you all that helped us rule out other options!!!!! Yes - this mechanic had problems with it... pat: I've had a rear main seal leak and front engine leaks also...Are there any problems with changing the seals on a 86 22RE 1 ton automatic pick up?? My brother says he'll do it, yet the mechanic that tried said he had to move engine up a bit to do it & it wasn't done right. Any help before my brother tears into it would be greatly appreciated...

let me know how that goes, i have a 87 that needs the same seal replaced. i am questioning if i have the equiptment to remove the tranny and replace it but i would hate to pay $500 to replace a $10 seal. let me know if its a weekend project.

only way is to remove the tranny. these trucks use a 1 piece main with a bolted-in retainer, so there's no fooling around with rope seals or anything like a chevy.
dropping the tranny isn't so hard, it's putting it back in that sucks!
