causes for the annoying code 25 & 26

Hi all,

for the past 2 - 3 months I've had this problem with my 95 4runner. Have checked and rechecked as well as replaced sensors to no avail. I've been searching the forums trying to figure out what may be the cause of these 2 codes popping up on me all the time and I've just about lost all hope. So here I am, again, with another request. To those of you that have had these 2 codes, could you possibly share what the culprit was and how you remedied it.

thanks............

a wire end can become loose in the plug and not make contact.

I've changed everything concievably changeable and still no result. Ive tested the afm and its within spec but just in case, i'm trying to get a used one to swap it out. I've got a hunch that i've been runnin lean for a while because my fan has been engaging when when outside temp has not been that hot ;70+ (clutch was replaced w factory one).

one of you mentioned the distributor. how would that be a factor?

A worn distributor can put your timing off sufficiently to cause the code.
