Cam sprocket backwards?

Did a timing belt, water pump and idler replacement about a month ago. I did not remove the cam sprockets.

I tore it all back apart to replace the knock sensor and wire, A problem I had since I bought the 1994 4runner 3vze.

Well I noticed that my passenger side cam sprocket has the ridge facing the front of the runner and everyone else's in the internet is facing the block.

If I can figure out how to post a pic I will.

It's normal.
I noticed that too when I did my timing belt/water pump. But even in the Toyota factory manuals, it's the way it is.

the cam sprocket is backwards so that you can slide the belt over the sprocket without having to go over the lip of the sprocket. the lip being backwards also keeps the belt from rubbing the block. it is cheaper to machine one sprocket and used one backwards than to make 2 different sprockets
