Brake calibers

First off first time on brakes. I heard a grinding noise on the front right disk brakes so i decided to dive in. Turns out on pad was completely worn and the other was like new. Upon closer inspection i cant get the pistons on the engine side to budge at all and they look stuck. i took the caliber off and cant get them to move at all. The others go in fine. Any ideas to fix this? Like i said i know nothing about brakes im just decent at figuring stuff out

Its called a caliper, but the easiest way to fix it is replace the caliper with a new/used one.

You can also rebuild them with new seals and boots from the dealership.

if you have alreadly taken the caliper off than getting the rotor of is a matter of strength.

BFH works well.

lying on the ground and kicking works also

uh no.

The rotors are BOLTED to the hubs. YOu can beat on them all you want, and all it will do is destroy the rotors, and possibly even the hubs.

They did not start un-captured rotors until the 3rd gen 4Runners, and Tacomas when they redesigned the front suspension.

Ah yes, another mis-information post on the forum that isn't suppose to hand forth mis-information

As already mentioned, the 2 Gen 4Runners DO NOT have unit bearings.
The rotors are bolted to the hub, which in turn is bolted to the end of the axle shaft.

Bolted to the end of the spindle, not the axle shaft. lol. BUt i knew what you meant. The axle shaft is held into the spindle with a 12mm bolt, and a snap ring, and the spindle is secured to the knuckle with bolts (forget how many and size right this second)

Yup, I'm half asleep, time for bed

Spindle, axle, when he get's in that far he'll hopefully have instructions on what to do, especially setting the bearing preload correctly
