Blower resistor questions:

So... the usual symptoms.... Fan isn't working on speeds 1 and 2 (only works on 3 and 4).

This is the infamed blower resistor right??

Is this the right part number for my car (88 runner with 3vze and A/C)? 88635-89103

Where is it located? And is this writeup a good one to follow? http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Blower.shtml

Is there anything else I need to do at the same time?

Thanks for your help!

Yea, pretty sure your resistor is 1/2 gone. The p/n you listed is one of 3 I wrote down when I needed one - any dealer should be able to help you. 4crawler's write-ups are generaly top-notch - a great source of info. To find your resistor, 1st find the blower fan under the glove box. 2nd follow the wires coming off of the fan - the next component they lead to should be the resistor. Only 2 screws to remove if I remember correctly.

Just replaced mine tonight. I've been w/o low-speed fan for 8-10 years. It's only one screw and $9.23 + shipping from toyotapartsales.com! Yes that's the correct part number, at least for my '86.

If I'd known it was so easy & cheap, I would have done it years ago!
