BJ spacers vs. Cranked T-bars

Okay, bear with me here, how is the LCA on the T-bar lift down 1.5" compared BJ spacer lift? The LCA is down either way to provide the lift in either case since the spacers are on the UCA, is it not?

Thicker (aftermarket) bars just make the suspension flex less. Unless you have a compelling reason to make your suspension more stiff, stick with stock.

The difference when the vehicle is at rest as far as CV's are concerned between t-bar cranking 1.5" and spacer lift of 1.5" is nill. The difference is when the tire is at full droop. With spacers it is drooping 1.5" farther. While that does stress the CV's, the tire is drooping because there isn't any weight on it and therefore load on the CV.

That's fine if you have a compelling reason to lift higher than 1.5". With in 1.5" over stock angles are still pretty mellow. Your stock CV boots, and let me be clear, we are talking about the boots here, the joints are fine unless you jack the front way up and have a front locker, are anywhere from 21-12 years old so you might need to replace them period. Suddenly lifting passed 1.5" just means you do it "sooner" which is kinda funny when you think about a rubber part exposed to the elements lasting decades as "soon".

I have a call in to Bilstein regarding their shocks but it doesn't look good. I need to calc the min length but the only shock I found BE5-6140-T5 is 11.77" compressed and 18.42 extended. 10"comp/15"ext would be just about perfect but they don't have anything in the range.
Doetsch tech, however, does have shocks in the range and I have call into them to get the correct part number.
I do know you can shim the Bilstein stock replacement shock. The first truck to ever run spacers had those Bilsteins on it and we shimmed them with no issues.

one canuck to another
[QUOTE=frozenSurf;50669034]Just bought a 2 1/2" lift springs and T-bars (ironman) for my Surf. To even things out in the front what is the best option?
1> Crank the T-bars & install Low-profile bump stops OR...
2> Install BJ spacers, leave the T-bars alone (low-pro bump stops again?)
I don't rock crawl & I have warn manual hubs. Most of my driving is on gravel fire roads to get me to the mountains for play. (I do like driving really fast on those roads though....) Usually the only time I have my truck in 4WD is when it's REALLY icy on the roads up here.
Thanks for all the help everyone.
This is the route I am going am with all the research the best deal.
Listen to the SDORI guy. I asked the same question and have a set of 33x10.5 R15 bfg waiting to be put on once the fallowing package arrives.
i should head out Rossland to ski this winter. use to ride at whitewater.
