i ussualy get bosch platinum single spark on my 1991 4runner is there something better??

The Germans (Bosch) and Japanese (Toyota) don't get along so well since WWII.

Just get "regular" (ie no platinum, iridium, splifire, yadyada) NGK or Denso plugs and make sure they are gapped properly.

Be sure to do the cap/rotor while you're at it. If you use carbon core plug wires, do them too.

i had v power and it worked like , put in the regular cheapo copper cores and it worked better....oh yea...i never gapped the v's and gapped the cheapo's ...... i like to learn the hard way, v6's suck

I swapped from bosch platinums to regular old NGKs on the advice of yotatecher's and there was noticable improvement in idle quality. this was a while ago though, I can't remember the part number for the plugs

Really where did you guys go to school the axis powers were italy(mussolini), japan(i think Irihito) and germany(hitler). the ruskies were on our side with the british french and a sizable canadian presence. but enough with the history lesson. I use NGK anything else imho is overkill on these engines.

i have ngk irridium plugs on my 4runner and ever since i have gotten a smother ride, and better gas mileage. i think with newer advanced plugs you gotta get new wires too though.

my friend put bosch plugs in his 98 taco and he had a horrible miss after, then he put NGKs in and it went away and i run NGK iridium plugs in mine.

Use regular Denso plugs K16TR11 and you'll be fine for 25-30k miles.

Bosch platinum plugs suck. At least the garden variety 2/$5 ones suck. The good ones cost more than NGK/Denso platinums.

The k16tr11's are for the 5VZ. The 3VZ's use denso k16ru. Denso and NGK is the only thing you should use. Toyotas don't like anything else

What about spark plug wires for the 3.0? Is it best to stick with 5mm or move up to 8mm? Brand? Napa has some I have been eying...

The thing with plug wires is to get real metal core wires, NOT carbon core. Carbon is not intended to be flexible and eventually little cracks will form in the conductor and you'll lose ignition "power" because the spark is jumping all those gaps. So, you have to replace them periodically.

IMHO, the oversize wires are a waste - you're carrying a lot of voltage, not current - a little conductor is plenty.

My NGK iridium's have been in for a year (first time irdium user) & my fuel economy went up by about 1 m.p.g. when I installed them; they've been trouble free so far. The regular NGK's or Densos would be fine too but if you want iridums, they will work. They're expensive but if you know that ahead of time it's no biggie.
